Production side, Facility Side
I do both. I started in VFX back on The Outer Limits after film school and since then I have worked on many feature films, television shows, commercials and even a couple of theme park ride films. After years of learning the production side of VFX, I went to the facility side to continue learning and rounding out my experience. I've worked as an artist, department manager and as a producer. It is so beneficial to have that followthrough from set into post with a project as it is to have someone on set who knows the little things the artists in post are going to want. From reference & texture photos, HDRI's, measurements and scans, it's good to have a set person who knows what the artists are going to be looking for while being able to advise production on the best way to shoot things and help them attain their vision. I specialize in covering shoots for remote supervisors and often cover shoots directly for facilities. It is nice to be able to take on the added responsibility of representing them to their clients. A lot of the supervisors I work with can remain in LA or NY and deal with post while I cover set. Here are some of the VFX facilities I have worked for.
The Roger Moore Project
It all started when we saw a story on the news about a little kitten named Roger Moore who had fallen from a high rise balcony and was left for dead. No one came forward to claim him so we reached out to adopt him. The site can't all be about work.
